Above all,...Shel always meant well...he would try and help people even when his "contacts" were less than elated about it......I've been on both ends of that stick....the one being helped, and the one "helping".....I've also been on both ends of "the work" thing...working for him on Steve Canyon, and him working for me on Leprechaun....he would often tell me of his disappointment that I hadn't fully utilized the connections he would provide for me...I guess I'm just not that pushy....this lead to a lot of these people becoming my friends instead of my employers...which is fine by me...I'm still friends with the keyboardist he dropped on my doorstep unexpectedly, and scores of others ....and he always appreciated when I called or visited,...expressing his opinions about those who did not........nobody's perfect...certainly not I...yet,Shel and I endured a close and personal friendship 'til the end,..and for that, I am forever grateful..Shel was a wonderful man, who I am proud to have known.

We'll never be able to do enough to honor Shel for his vision, insight, and kindness, if we live for 100 years into the future.

As a 10 years volunteer at Comic-Con, I know that I have been the recipient of Mr. Dorf's bounty. I vaguely remember being dragged along by a friend to attend a mid-70's comic convention that started me thinking in a very different direction about those old comics that I stored in my closet in my parent's house. It may sound funny but I never made the connection 'til last year when we started working on the 40th Comic-Con. Thank you to Sheldon Dorf, Richard Alf, Barry Alfonso, & Mike Towry for planting the seeds that grew to the Comic-Con of today. Dear Mr Dorf...Rest quietly & enjoy, if you can, the pleasure of reading your comics & listening to your friends praising you!
